Dr. Travis Lehman Earns Board Certification

Huron, S.d. – Travis Lehman, DO, a local internal medicine physician, successfully passed the required examinations and is now board-certified by the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
To become board certified, Dr. Lehman passed a written exam to demonstrate that he had obtained the special knowledge and skills required to care for the general medical needs of adults, which include acute and chronic illnesses, disease prevention, screening, patient education and follow-up care from hospitalization.
As an internist, Dr. Lehman is qualified to manage complex illness in the critical care area, as well as general medical conditions. He provides primary care for patients beginning at age 16. When his patients are admitted to the hospital, Dr. Lehman delivers care through their stay and discharge and provides follow-up care at the clinic.
Originally from Texas, Dr. Lehman completed an internal medicine residency with the Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri. Prior to his residency, he completed an internal medicine internship with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received a doctor of osteopathy degree from University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Osteopathic medicine offers a unique focus on disease prevention and health maintenance. Instead of treating only specific symptoms or illnesses, doctors of osteopathic medicine (DO) regard and treat the body as an integrated whole.
Dr. Lehman also holds a master of science in molecular pathology and a bachelor of science in microbiology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He is certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), advanced trauma life support (ATLS) and core disaster life support.
Dr. Lehman enjoys fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Amanda, and their two children live in Huron. He is currently accepting new patients and appointments can be made by calling 353-7660.
